Tuna season
The tuna season in Cyprus is quite short, starting in June and ending in August. After it ends, the Mahi Mahi and Amberjack season begins, but that's another story.
Fishing tackle
Preparation for fishing: we stock up on trolling rods and reliable reels; in our case, we use Okuma SLX 30 and PENN 50LD. We also make sure to have a supply of trusted lures.
The chances of catching
Guarantees of catching fish — we can increase the likelihood by understanding the weather and preparing the boat to allow for casting with 5 rods using different lures. The chances of catching tuna in season are about 85%. But if we don't catch tuna, we will find other fish. For instance, if you are with children, returning without fish is not an option. We will definitely catch something.

Expert Fishing Locations!
Fish are typically found around sharp depth changes, ranging from 12 to 30 miles offshore. We've thoroughly explored all locations, navigating tried-and-tested routes.
Where do we catch tuna?
Near Limassol, there are essentially two spots for tuna fishing: the points beyond Cape Akrotiri and the point located 12 miles and further in the 120-degree direction from St Raphael Marina. It is also very convenient to depart from Zygi, in which case it is about 8 miles at 167 degrees. Although it takes a bit longer to drive to Zygi, it's quicker to reach the fishing spot by boat.
Akrotiri 12NM
An excellent fishing spot for tuna is reached by motorboat; we start at 4 a.m. from Limassol Marina to be at the location by 4:40 a.m. and start casting the rods.
120 degree from St Raphael 12NM
We depart from St Raphael Marina at 4 a.m., and within 30-40 minutes, we reach our fishing spot.
167 degree from Zygy 8NM
From Zygi, we depart at 4:20 a.m. because it's only 8 miles to the fishing spot, which takes about 20 minutes at a speed of 24 knots. This is ideal for those who prefer more time fishing and less time traveling to the spots.
